We have such a proud history of welcoming the ‘foreigner’. Around 1181 the First Charter of Liberties was granted to Coventry by Earl Ranulf of Chester. In it he made 4 declarations, three on behalf of Coventry’s residents, and the fourth commanded peace, no harm towards and no unjust sending to trial for any foreign merchants. In today’s context I would just drop the “merchants” and claim peace, safety and justice for all foreign arrivals to our city. Please join me in praying for the asylum seekers and refugees in the 4 hotels and the mother and baby hostel; and for people like S and her twelve colleagues, who are working tirelessly to gain visas for Afghans who are still in such danger. We are back! I’m pleased and relieved to be posting this. Well, where do I start? Firstly, thank you to all those who have been praying for us and encouraging us, it is working, and may God multiply back to you the same. Second, sorry to all those who have been confused / unsure / wondering what’s happening with Cov365 etc. Our communication has been poor and we hope to do better going forward. In short, we’ve found it hard to play our role as "administrators" effectively for many weeks now. Tiredness, stress, pressures, laziness, discouragement, confusion, you name it, had befallen us. And many times, have been tempted to throw in the towel. But thank God we didn’t. And thank God for bringing us to a place of repentance and renewed commitment. To take things forward, we would love to gather all who can make it, to an hour of worship and prayer on Saturday 9th October, at 7am over Zoom. us02web.zoom.us/j/82876244307?pwd=cFkvL2M3OG5ZSE9IODg5WW50VDM4UT09 See MoreSee Less

8:00am slot. Gave thanks and prayed for blessing on Marcus before me and Mike after me. Today was given over to prayer in line with General William Booth’s hymn ‘Thou Christ of burning cleansing flame’ – ‘Send the fire’ on us all as God ‘s people in the city whatever our tribe, calling, proffesion or vocation (including brothers and sisters in the City of Culture). This I think was probably sparked by Prayer Storm’s founder James Aladiran who clearly spoke about hearts being devoted completely to the Lord in a talk at Coventry Elim a week ago. In addition I am reading his book ‘Life on Fire’ – ‘Becoming a person of prayer, purity and power’. This must have affected my subconscious as I talked with the Lord about the prayer slot sometime between 5am and 6am this morning. May God empower us all in our places of worship, work, service and especially in our praying for his kingdom to come in our city. See MoreSee Less

Really looking forward to this evening. Unanswered prayer is something we all face and it can affect our prayer lives so having a space to explore and reflect on this is so helpful.Hope to see you this evening but if you can’t make it and are interested do check out the prayer course online and you can find the session videos there!Tonight we look at a really important topic with the prayer course, unanswered prayer.Ever prayed for something you are sure a loving God would say yes to and it hasn’t happened or felt you haven’t had any response at all? Ever started to feel disheartened or doubting in prayer?Tonight’s session looks at this tough but critical issue which we all face in our journey of faith. All are welcome, whether you have been to previous sessions or not.The session is just over an hour long and begins with a time of prayer, watching a video from the prayer course which is full of wisdom and challenge, a time of discussion and tonight some reflection and personal prayer time.Hope to see you later!#prayer #questions #church See MoreSee Less

I’ve become very interested in Cov’s history since embarking on Cov 365. On our shelf, rather dusty, is Coventry 600 years of municipal life. Today I started to read it. On 20.01. 1345 King Edward III granted Coventry the Charter of Incorporation. The form granted was the first English Charter to use the term communitas, which indicated the nature of the new society which the charter brought into being. We were designed to be ‘community’. Lord may we be people of peace and reconciliation and harmony. A community of Hope , pleasing to you. See MoreSee Less

So here’s the thing! And it really is a thing!Up till last Saturday I completed 17 consecutive weeks of Cov 365, which is aiming to cover Coventry 24/7 in prayer for a year. My daughter signed me up for the 7.00-8.00pm slot on Saturdays.Yesterday, I stopped. After all, it’s Strictly. I’d done my stint. God would let me off, now, surely??Today, I carried on with my occasional dips into Dirty Glory by Pete Greig, about the 24/7 prayer movement. This is what I read. I’m going to aim to renegotiate my slot, to Sundays from 6.00-7.00pm.Here I go! See MoreSee Less

Final post today! Honestly!I had a picture of the 4 friends who lowered their crippled friend to Jesus’ feet. Their faith was commended and Jesus healed him. Then the picture was reversed and Cov 365 people were holding the four corners of a sheet, containing Coventry; but they were lifting it up and placing it in Jesus’ arms, for healing. Another great evening doing the #PrayerCourse tonight as we focused on petition, asking God for our wants and needs.I loved some of the advice from Pete Greig about prayer this evening:Pray with others: it’s powerful!Pray incrementally: so, if there’s a big prayer to pray eg healing, what might be the next step to really pray into such as the next appointment or test resultsPray God’s promises: the Lord has promised good to us so let’s pray them over ourselves, our loved ones and the issues on our heartsPray consistently: persevere! What are you asking the Lord for this evening?#prayer #church #faith See MoreSee Less

Wanted to share this with you all.I had a dream on Saturday morning. I was ‘at work’, but not any work I’ve actually been at before. I was being sent on some kind of conference but was aware that I wasn’t prepared, didn’t have the right clothes even. Someone opened a cupboard and gave me loads of interesting, (flamboyant) tho not necessarily appropriate clothes to choose from, and I grabbed a load and got changed. Then it was like we were there already, and I was going round chatting to people, but felt a little out of place, like I didn’t really belong.People were milling about and it seemed we were involved in some kind of exercise, like on ‘The Apprentice’. (TV programme, being covertly filmed)People were getting into groups and planning stuff, but I was thinking, we haven’t been told what this is about, what the goal is, or the rules of the game, there’s no one to help or guide us, what are we supposed to be doing? Then I felt angry, that it wasn’t fair, it was a shambles, no organisation or anything.I tried talking to some people but then they joined another group, and I was left alone feeling left out, and hurt, but getting angrier at the unfairness of the exercise. Then I carried on walking round and met a few more people like me, and suggested that we band together as the misfits and ‘let’s win this thing, we’ll show them, they tried to leave us out, they won’t know what’s hit them,’ kind of thing. A sort of righteous indignation and determination to ‘show them’ that we were worthy of consideration.I looked at these people and realised they didn’t have the heart to do the ‘showing’ and my thoughts instantly changed to sympathy. Then, I suddenly thought – ‘maybe this is the real test, how we respond to the lack of guidance or rules, how we respond to each other.’I said ‘No, scratch that, we’re not ‘in it to win it’ like the rest of the contestants, who will be scheming and backstabbing each other, we are gonna look after each other and have fun. We are gonna gather all the other ‘left-outs’ and misfits, all those hiding in corners in shame for not having been picked, all the heartbroken, downtrodden ones and gather them in. We’ll search for them in dark places and bring them into our group, and tell them they belong, they matter, they are part of us, and then we’ll have a ball! ‘ I was outraged at the way they’d been treated and ready to rewrite the rulebook (smash the system!) and adapt it to suit everyone, make it fairer, gentler, inclusive. I was thinking of something like a talent show, where everyone was invited and encouraged to share their hidden talents, whatever it might be; how everyone has something they are good at, that they were made for, and we should help them to identify it, and practice and share it, and be appreciated. Then I woke up, all excited and riled up!Do you think God might be trying to tell us something!? 😜🥰😮 See MoreSee Less

3am slot today. First focused on Daniel in the lions den. There were 2 things that stuck out… Firstly the lions were VERY hungry as they soon devoured the next folk thrown in with them.( this was no fluke!) Secondly, it was the reaction of the ruler… "he couldnt eat or sleep, worried about Daniel". The next day he came running out asking "Daniel, has YOUR God saved you?". Because of Daniel’s faith, others around him ALSO started to have faith. The ruler did not go home upset, believing Daniel was SURE to be dead due to "the God of Daniel" not being faithful or real.So I started praying for the faith of His people in Coventry to stand on the conviction of their faith in the same way… So it will stir up faith in those around them. In every occasion for faith to be witnessed, his people will take that opportunity to show how the God of Daniel can be trusted. That they will keep walking in that faith no matter how big or small so that His faithfulness can be seen by those around.I then started praying for individual churches in Coventry and people I have met over the years still living there.Lastly, He spoke about "His joy is our strength"… I saw it in the form of the mightly Lion of Judah rowing a big boat while his people were relaxed passengers in the boat. Faith just means your willing to get IN the boat and let him row?I then spent some time singing to Him as the stars were so amazing to watch. See MoreSee Less

I haven’t signed up for a prayer slot in a while as work has been so busy- praying for the city has been happening as I’ve driven around, and in time grabbed between activities. But over the bank holiday I spent some time at a retreat centre, & wrote out some declarations that I am building into my prayers. I’ve felt prompted to declare them regularly so they become a natural response when people casually bad-mouth the city we love.I don’t know if this is helpful for anyone: See MoreSee Less

Leaving the church building tonight after session 2 of the prayer course, thankful for an evening focusing on adoration. I’m left delighting in God’s majesty, patience, goodness and glory.Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! What are you thankful for tonight? 8am slot this morning. At 7.45am I started off by trying to find my bible. My place is currently a mess decorating. I tried looking in all the places I thought I last had it yesterday but couldnt. Eventually I noticed one of my others sitting on the top of a pile of books (The Message) so grabbed that one. As I opened it, I could see why the Lord wanted me to read from this version : "True Blue City". I then asked the Lord if I should share this? If so, to find me a highlighter pen to use for the words He wants to say. I walked into my kitchen and found 3… So I will just leave this here… See MoreSee Less

“Ask and it shall be given…” To ask God of something, you need to be in his presence to do so. God would love to hear from you today, hear how your life is and what you need. He knows but loves to hear it from YOU. And then just ask. Ask for the right things, and keep asking. Ask today for “your kingdom to come” but also ask for “daily bread”.Jesus encourages us to do so. You could book a slot and do this, or not (if that’s not your thing) but just go for it. See MoreSee Less

2pm. Thanks to my friend Debbie McNeill who posted it elsewhere, I’ve been meditating on Colosians 1. There’s so much in it, giving us a pattern of how to pray for other believers, as well as how to live. The Colosians had faith in Christ Jesus and love for all God’s people, springing from the ‘hope stored up in heaven and… the true message of the gospel…understanding God’s grace’. So, following Paul’s lead, we should pray continually for God’s people to be filled ‘with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.’ There should then follow some marvellous results. Another way to know the will of God is to be ‘transformed by the continuous renewing of our minds. Then we will be able to test and approve what your will is—your good, pleasing and perfect will.’ Rom 12:2We should not be conforming to the ‘pattern of this world’, ie not doing what everyone else does, (we are not ‘in Rome’), but we should ‘offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.’ This mean ‘getting our hands dirty’, getting stuck in, wholeheartedly. We know what the will of God is, in general tetms: feed the hungry, clothe the naked, heal the sick, visit prisoners, look after widows and orphans…Are we doing it? Can we do more? What can I do?As to God’s will right now in my own life, that’s a trickier matter, but if we hang out with Jesus, surrender to His will, He will surely make it plain…" so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[f] to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." I started tonight with today’s Lectio365. (If you’re not already using this, I strongly recommend it!) Today’s session is about Revelation 22 – the river flowing through the city; the tree of life with leaves of healing for the nations. Unsurprisingly, it spoke to me of all the people from different nations who are placed in Coventry, including the 66 Afghan people who are quarantining here. They are placed. They don’t choose to be here. My prayer is that Coventry will be a place where healing happens, where their stay feels refreshing and peaceful, a settled place of calm and welcome; and that for, however long or short, their stay may be, they may experience God’s presence here. Never a sad sojourn – always a place of joy and love. See MoreSee Less

4pm with Kate on the balcony in Portugal Finishing off the series on hospitality and Shalom from Lectio 365. I think the thing that struck us is the importance of eating with others. We like food. And I have a few people on my hospitality list that I’m going to sort when I get back from Portugal. We don’t have the house to entertain and in our own way, with different levels of intentionality practice Shalom. So there are some houses that are being built in our parish and we discussed buying one of these… .. so prayers for us as we seek where we should live, and how we may practice hospitality better would be great. Until then I’m buying a lot of curry, and a lot of drinks – look out for your invite! See MoreSee Less

8 -9pm slot 31 August. Tried to focus my "scattered thoughts" (Lectio 365) and found myself praying for them as they came up – my own shortcomings quickly followed happily by the Lord’s love and amazingly grace – places of crisis in the world – places where Christians suffer – brought them all to the cross and the Lord on his throne. Focussed then on the refugees and asylum seekers in Coventry. Thanked the Lord that they had received a good welcome here from frontline people and many individuals. Prayed that this would continue under God’s leading, wisdom, encouragement and sustaining, for churches that they would look to the Lord for their specific roles in this venture (and other city ventures)and meet them in his strength and leading, bringing glory to him through what they would do. Then thought, yes, with his help in all we do, in all situations, may we bring you glory Lord🙂. Was much struck by the prayer of Julian of Norwich in this week’s Lectio365 – "God, of your goodness, give me yourself, for you are sufficient for me. I can’t porperly ask for anything less, to be worthy of you. If I were to ask for anything less, I should always be in want. In you alone, do I have all". See MoreSee Less

3pm slot using Lectio 365 as our guide this afternoon. Kate was not feeling too well and I was pleased that she managed to fall asleep as I prayed. Perhaps even subconsciously knowing that God is with her.Today I prayed for those who are “restless”. There is a difference between being busy and restless I realised and so I asked that God would “take from our souls the strain and stress and let our ordered lives confess the beauty of thy peace” particularly for those close to me but as well as leaders of this city, and Church leaders also. And let us continue to pray for our Afghan brothers and sisters. Some of whom are already in this city, but there will be more. Grace and peace. See MoreSee Less

1pm slot yesterday. A van pulled into the drive yesterday to turn around just as I started praying. He had a big sign on his van "chimney sweep"…. Something Ive been asking around for here with no luck! He is now booked…. BUT…. I began by thanking God for how He does things. How He puts things in the right place at the right time….. Big or small.. He knows what we need when we need it. I started praying then for the small businesses in Coventry "the honest men and women" just tryng to get buy… Making a living to put food on the table…. That God would bless those businesses in abundance and bless those people. That their work will be seen and appreciated… And that communities will grow and be supported by them and for them. It was all about "not stressing over the big stuff" but asking Him to bless the small things, the daily life of many in Coventry. Lifting spirits and removing the daily stresses of life. For today is a new day. See MoreSee Less

“We shall be as a city on a hill” a beacon of hope. John Winthrop 1630. Not about Coventry, but as he arrived on the Arbella in America, with the first emigrants from England. I’ve been made aware this last week about how many (over 500) asylum seekers have been brought to our city over the past few weeks. We are their refuge, sanctuary, safe place, place of recovery. What a responsibility! And as they come, other cities are looking to us for an example of how we welcome, succour, nourish, heal and care. What a responsibility!Only with your help, Lord. 🙏🏿🙏🏿www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYrcrP1ysjw See MoreSee Less

3pm slot with Kate, listening to Lectio 365 – about Sabbath rest. Appropriately Kate fell asleep. It reminded of when my children were younger, always on the go until they came to that place of rest in their Dad’s arms. And when Kate wakes I pray she knows that she has been in that safe place. And for the refugees in our city I prayed something similar. How they must need rest, and shelter. And then I spent the rest of the time in silence, not saying or thinking much but just aware of God in the heat of the Sun, the breeze of the wind, the laughter of children and the smell of cuisine. #worshipinthehouse 8am I found myself praying urgently for youth in my church and the older members of Kidz Klub, which I currently run in Wood End. I prayed that they would fall on Jesus as their Rock rather than looking to other heroes, whether contemporary, secular, political or leaders of the faith. I prayed for an awakening of passion and that they would rise up to take their place in the Kingdom. I was inspired by the words “Lord, I know you are great- you are greater than any other god” from the Psalms and John Piper’s Desiring God – I read an article last night where he talked about celebrating our heroes with “chastened enthusiasm” bearing in mind their flaws and successes. 3pm – Lectio 365 with Kate. Thinking about the question “who is in need today” we decided upon the residents of Coventry Hill Hotel. And then Psalm 102:1-2 is my my prayer for them today:“Hear my prayer, LordLet my cry for help come to you. Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress.Turn your ear to me;when I call, answer me quickly”So for all refugees and asylum seekers my prayer is that God would answer them quickly. Gave thanks for Carriers of Hope, All Saints and others who are being answers to prayer but prayed for MORE. Asking that the peace, justice and salvation of Jesus would come, and be known. And thank God that Coventry is not just a city of culture but also a City of Sanctuary too. #shalom See MoreSee Less

Praying 6-7pm for…Households with non-believersWe are such a household, as our son is no longer a ‘God person’. However, he is open minded, and we pray for him and his sister (who lives in Sheffield) every day, that they may come to know how much God loves them. We pray this for all the not yet believers, the seekers, the journeyers, the ‘fallen-away’, the ‘backsliders’, those uncertain of the Way, and all the rest of us.Scripture for today is:"God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them" – 2 Cor 5:19What a great God we serve, how gracious is He not to give us what we deserve, but instead lavished us with love and sent His only Son to die for us, to reconcile us to the Father. Let us follow this example and allow grace to flourish. . Believers will show abundant love to those in their householdsYes and amen to that, acceptance and no judgement, just love, love, love.. Bring knowledge of Jesus Christ to those near Your peopleAmen, Lord open up their eyes and ears, and hearts to see, hear and believe; remove the scales from their eyes, Lord, inhabit their dreams and thoughts, pour out Your Spirit on them, Amen Idea:. Ask those who do not believe what you can pray about for them. Then pray those things.-We are praying for our son’s work situation and also his housing as he wants to move out and get his own place. I pray he will find believing friends and neighbours, and our daughter also.I felt the Lord was reminding me that He intends to shower this city with blessing and power, falling like golden rain, but we have our part to play – we must stand, dwell together in unity, then the Lord will command the blessing. I booked 1-2pm and worshipped while I beaded, as I had a commission to make for a friend. Have now booked 6-7 pm also, as I am in the bath and expect to have a lovely quiet time, focusing on Jesus and doing some listening prayer. Will check out today’s theme also and pray around that 😊 See MoreSee Less

1pm slot – again with Kate (a miracle – although she doesn’t pray but does listen and discuss but hey this is quite unbelievable)… From Lectio 365, we discussed some friends of ours who experienced grief mostly in relation to children. And of course COVID. And we shared the peace in our own way (a cheers and a sip of Gin and Tonic) each time we listened to the passage where Jesus says “peace be with you”… So I’m praying today for those bereaved – for Shalom to invade their household, and for mine too.Oh and there is a cafe called Shalom in Albufeira… See MoreSee Less

Prayed using the Lectio 365 app with Kate. We decided Jesus would have dinner with everybody, but we gave consideration to who we would least have dinner with. What would Jesus think if he came to our house? He’d find a busy home, and would ask to help. Kate would give me and Jesus a load of jobs to do and I’d offer him a glass of wine! I think he’d like our house but in instant he’d see through the hustle and bustle and put “his finger on it” and in his gentleness peace, justice and salvation would come.#shalom See MoreSee Less

The Lord woke me at 3.50am, so I took the 4-5 slot, praying for families. Prayed for protection on families and that Kingdom families would provide great role models and be sources of safety and comfort for those around them, safe havens for kids in need, sources of hospitality and generosity, etc. Thinking of that scripture that says God sets the lonely in families, I prayed for more, and good foster families, and something similar for the elderly (adopt a granny?) Prayed for women and children in Afghanistan also. See MoreSee Less

9-10 am Dieks’ #worshipinthehouse plan for today had 2 Peter 1:8 as a theme for Singles that to be fulfilled by seeiing positive changes in their walk with Jesus. I had a good look at an anthurium plant which has a new flower emerging further every day. Providentially my readings today included 2 Peter 1. My thoughts and prayers were firstly, for the qualities we are encouraged to develop, to grow amongst us all in the church in Coventry. Following on from this that it would have a significant impact on those who do not know Jesus yet. During this time worship songs came to my mind. I gave thanks for and blessed Chris and Sharon who were before and after me. See MoreSee Less

From my 10am slot this morning, on the veranda in Portugal. Prayed through the psalms and the Lectio 365 app. Mostly struck by the latter particularly thinking about how hospitality is way of enacting Shalom in the world. Kate and I gave consideration to who we might extend some hospitality too. I’m left with this thought – that we are to pray, but we are to put this prayer into practice too. See MoreSee Less

10am slot from sunny Portugal. Double espresso in hand over looking a peaceful swimming pool.Praying through the Psalms 72 to 77 and struck by Psalm 77 that I wanted to share it right away. It starts off in V1 with David in much distress to the point where he can’t even speak. We’ve probably all been there, where situations have paralysed us.But David encourages himself by remembering the deeds of the Lord and miracles of long ago. I can testify to God’s faithfulness… why don’t we today share some of those “deeds of the Lord” with each other. Perhaps it was a deed performed 5 mins ago or 5 years ago but let’s encourage each other… And then it is the last verse that struck me the most “your path les through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints WERE NOT SEEN”…So if you are in a situation of distress then let us help you by sharing “deeds of the Lord” to encourage you, but also know that God will make a way even though his footprints are not always visible. Praying this morning and the Lord highlighted the importance of Unity of His body. Recently on a coastal walk I had noticed they had put in a new path… Not so close to the edge. 2 paths but still called A coastal walk (singular). "Like wise Lord, I pray for your body, as there is only one… I ask Lord that we learn to celebrate those that have been trained to walk on the heights close to edge…. And not compare…. Or feel threatened…. Or feel we should correct them for walking too close to the edge…. And let us learn to rejoice with those who need the security of the fields and not look over the edge. Let us learn to stop looking at each other with a sense of "whose path is right" and help us to see that as long as we are heading in the same direction…. Bringing your glory to all we meet…. Loving those with your compassion…. Praying for those around us that you will intervene…. Then Your Kingdom will be seen in all its fullness. For YOU give a measure of faith to each of us. WE cannot boast in anything but you. Its not about how much you have given each…. But what do we do with it? I am mindful Lord of the parable of the tennants…. Those that did nothing with what you gave…. You took off them…. And gave to those that did something. Father I ask for an awaking of your people…. With whatever measure of faith you have given them… That they will put to good use with whatever they have for the Glory of your name and all you have done for us Jesus. From a kind word to someone who needs it…. To mighty miracles. Let us all wake up and put to use all you have given us. Father I also ask that you help people feel "safe" on their path. Let them fix their eyes on you and not join someone else on a path not suited for them. For you know the plans you have for us…. Plans to bless us…. And not do us harm. I ask these things in your name Lord " See MoreSee Less

8-9am Declaring the ancient St Patrick’s breastplate led me into praying trusting in the Holy Spirit to direct which only became clear from messages received later. It was one of those call to hours where I was aware it was that type of praying for the city its leadership, church leadership including names, God’s people, charities, hospitals, medical teams and business directors that a battle was ongoing on several fronts. All I did was submit myself to the Lord at the beginning of it all however inadequate I may have felt. God is truly for us in our trials and troubles and is shielding us with his armour and protection in the face of attacks. I am grateful for the covering I have on this team of people, as even last night I was prayed for by a friend over an ongoing irritation. I thanked God for Pam who passed on the baton in the hour before me and for Mike to be blessed in his hour. See MoreSee Less

9 10 am I gave thanks to God for answers to prayer for last night as some of us met up as prearranged but also spontaneously connected with one another at Millennium Place through the very well conceived and organised Hope@Motofest evening event. The church in Coventry was represented in a vibrant way and the quality of the music, worship and testimony from the platform was inspirational and glorifying to God. My perception and experience was that good connections were being made in the crowd as led by the Holy Spirit. It seemed the church had been set free in a safe way to meet up and declare God’s praises together so that some of those those there or passing nearby might know the love of God for them and come under the sound of the Good News. Cov365 people’s prayer times have such an important role in hope being made visible for which God deserves the glory with thanks also to the Hope Coventry team. Today my praying was a follow up to the event, for people to continue to be touched and those there who don’t know Jesus yet would know that they were not there by chance but by God’s divine appointment for them. More of this in the city we pray. See MoreSee Less

9-10am slot. Such a blessing to make myself take time out by booking something regular instead of relying on having the admin skills to do this week by week (I definitely do not have those!)Was mulling over Psalm 121 and praying for a few people I know are really struggling at the moment, that they would know the presence, uplifting and guidance of God in a very clear and real way.I was thinking about how each person connects with and hears from God in different ways, that it isn’t ‘one size fits all’ and that we need to ask the Spirit to show us how to help facilitate this with those in our sphere of influence. Praying for my close family, a few friends and our church youth. Came up with a couple of questions to help us:1. What is God saying to each of us today?2. Who has God ‘put on our plate’?3. What might He be saying to them to encourage them to draw near to Him?4. How can we help people connect with Him?Prayed for the next person and for momentum to continue to build for Cov365, that people would catch the spark! 🔥 See MoreSee Less

6pm slot yesterday the Lord had me focused on the 3 spires of Coventry like the 3 persons of the Godhead. Prayed that those who only know the Father would get to know Jesus and the Holy Spirit in a very powerful way. Those that only know Jesus will not be afraid to "boldly approach the throne" of our Heavenly Father, for thats why Jesus gave His life. And those that only know "spirit" will learn how to move forward to discern what is of His Spirit…. And what is not… So they can move closer to Him. I prayed for the many faiths and denominations of Coventry, whatever their truth is, that the Holy Spirit would remove all the "bits" that are not of Him and unity will seen. For in Him truth is found and we all see in part. So I prayed that He will start fitting the many "parts" together so instead of causing division they will start building a much bigger picture… Far more deeper and wider than the boxes we have put Him in. For He builds His church by His spirit and only in His light can we see it. I pray His light will shine brightly in Coventry. See MoreSee Less

Tonight: Walls. Did you know that at one point Coventry’s walls were the most impressive in the whole country? Google, “Coventry’s medieval walls”, it makes fascinating reading. That is, until the King ordered their demolition.‘Open up ancient walls. Open up ancient gates, and let the King of Glory enter.’ from Psalm 24. Walls can protect, or reject.Walls can make insiders feel secure, or make outsiders feel excluded/ ostracised. The King orders their demolition today.Lord, make us Your holy demolition squad.Lord make us inclusive welcomers, in Your name.Amen.Walls by Gateway Worship from the 2015 live album WALLS is accompanied by a beautiful moving lyric video that is great for any worship setting. Morning! I’ve not had an official prayer slot but felt God prompt me to share some stuff with you! While I was in town a few weeks ago I really felt God’s heart longing for people to know how much he loves them. A deep ache of longing.I’ve been reading Ephesians the last few weeks and my prayer for the church has been that we will know just how much we are loved, that we have every spiritual blessing in Christ. As I’ve been praying that I had a picture of ripples going out from each of us. When we know how loved we are it changes how we live and that will create ripples everywhere we go. The love of Christ changes everything! Hope that makes sense! See MoreSee Less

11am slot. Repurposed the first part of the time by helping my son with some challenges for school while he’s isolating at home. As we did this I prayed for young people in Coventry to have perseverance and tenacity for the LORD, and to not give up! And for them to ask for God’s help whatever they are doing. Then sat in the garden and listened to Lectio 365. God really convicted me about needing to seek after him and his holiness and to pursue him; trusting him for everything and read his Word. Added this passage to my repurposed notebook, now named ‘Cornerstone Stronghold-Busters Book’ (thank you Cath Henzell) and prayed for the whole Cov365 team and for more people to join the exciting journey.Bless you guys 😊 See MoreSee Less
